Thats a very good point,,i wondered about this over a year ago,,but never really looked into it. I remember years ago when i was a kid in the early 70's we use to have white eggs,but now they are nowhere to be seen. By denying children these foods, they will eventually find their way to them on their own and hide it from the parents. I agree with you and think education is the most important factor...my children know that they should eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, they know why fish is good for them and the effects too much sugar and fat can have on their teeth and health. However since our children will have to make up their own minds sooner than any of us would like (i.e. school dinners, peer group influence by the time they are 8) then I feel it is best to educate them at a young age. And the odd treat is good for them too...I am a very fit and healthy 36 year old but I like a bottle of wine now and then or a packet of crisps.
